Computer System Interfacing

A course and lab on microprocessor systems with particular emphasis on interfacing. The course is centered around the 80x86 series of processors and will use the PC as example platforms for development and as system component. It is expected that the student will become familiar with 80x86 assembly language through homework and specific examples. Interface examples will include the processor/memory/i-o, serial, parallel and networks using standard hardware available for a PC platform. The course brings together the various concepts of development, software, hardware, and standards. Prerequisite: ECE/COE 0142
